What is the Aegis Ring?
The AEGIS® Shaft Grounding Ring is an innovative solution designed to protect motor bearings from electrical discharge machining (EDM) damage even if the bearing is Insulated. These discharges are caused by variable frequency drives (VFDs) which can generate harmful shaft voltages leading to pitting, frosting, and fluting damage of bearing, resulting in costly downtime and repairs. The AEGIS® Ring effectively prevents these issues by providing a reliable path to ground for shaft voltages.

BEST PRACTICES:
New bearings MUST be installed with AEGIS® Shaft Grounding Rings.
- Motors up to 75 kW: AEGIS® SGR on DE or NDE
- Motors above 75 kW: AEGIS® SGR (DE) and bearing insulation (NDE)
- Motors above 375 kW: AEGIS® PRO Series (DE) and bearing insulation (NDE)
